Lisa Wilkinson is no stranger to accolades. The respected television host has an extensive resume and now, she can add one more title to the list.
The 59-year-old was taken by surprise after being the recipient of a prestigious honour for her work over the years.
Taking to Instagram, The Project host shared her excitement by posting two photos. In the first image, Lisa is seen in full regalia, standing amongst her family. The other is her receiving an award on-stage at a graduation ceremony.
“Well, that was one I never could have imagined … completely blown away and humbled today,” she wrote.
She went on to explain that the University of Wollongong had presented the journalist with an Honorary Doctorate of Letters. Overwhelmed by the gesture, she said she was “just a few kilometres from the hospital where I was born, and my grandparents’ house where I spent most of my school holidays growing up.”

Being sure to remember her late grandfather at such a momentous occasion, Lisa revealed that William Charles Wilkinson, who fought in the ANZAC Day battle of Villers in France 101 years ago would have been proud.
“As am I,” she said.
“Huge congrats to all the wonderful graduating students I met and addressed today. It was an absolute honour.”
The emotional post caused a flurry amongst fans, with many taking to social media to congratulate the veteran media personality.
