ALDI is well-known for its Special Buys program, where it releases special limited-edition items every Wednesday and Saturday. Today, the product that has sent shoppers flocking is a beautiful set of French-style cutlery.

The Lou Laguiole cutlery set is named after Laguiole, a small town in south-central France that has been the centre of artisan knife production for centuries. It has now become a generic name for this style of knives and serving ware.

With elegant handles, polished stainless-steel heads and a trademark bee symbol on the rustic wooden box, the set brings an effortless French chicness to the dining table.

While the 24-piece set – including table knives, table forks, spoons and teaspoons – could go for $189 and above in other places, you can get ALDI’s version for just $29.99.

Besides the cutlery, ALDI has also released a Lou Laguiole steak knife block set for $9.99, featuring a pinewood block holder and six knives.
