Ian “Molly” Meldrum has been hospitalised in Melbourne less than a week after being forced to return home early from a 10-day European cruise, on which he was working as a DJ, due to poor health.

“After struggling with an acute health issue whilst overseas, Molly Meldrum has been safely returned home to Australia for urgent evaluation and treatment,” Dr Brian Pliatsos told the Daily Telegraph. “The decision to manage him in Australia was made to ensure appropriate continuity of care given some ongoing complications following his serious fall a few years ago.”

Meldrum was left fighting for life four years ago after falling from a ladder at his Richmond home. He also suffered a fall just a year later in Bangkok, which left him with cracked ribs and a dislocated shoulder.

Thankfully, it looks like Meldrum is well and truly on the mend. “I want to assure everybody that his prognosis is excellent and ask that his privacy be respected pending a full and proper recovery.” Dr Pliatsos said.
