Oscar-winning actress Kate Winslet has talked about an awkward meeting she had with Queen Elizabeth II.Â
The 44-year-old chatted about her brief encounter with her Majesty on The Graham Norton Show.Â
The Titanic actress was receiving her Order of the British Empire at Buckingham Palace back in 2012 when the Queen had a subtle, but very clear way of showing her their chat was final.Â

“She did this most extraordinary thing,” Winslet told Norton.Â
“Of course, there is a system and she is very well rehearsed and very well practised at this. You are told what to do and you step forwards and curtsy or bow or whatever fumble, terrible thing I probably did.
“And then you put out your hand to shake it and she sort of gives you this suggestive nudge backwards, like ‘you’re done, that’s it. Go back again’.

“I was like oh okay, I wasn’t expecting that.”
The star added the Queen had “the most incredible skin and beautiful bouncy hair”.
Winslet said she and the Queens shared a short but sweet conversation about motherhood, where Her Majesty told her “well, that is the only job.”
The British star has three children, teenagers Mia, 18, and Joe, 15, as well as her youngest son Bear Blaze, five.
