Prince William has reportedly been in secret meetings as he prepares for the day when the Queen passes away, and he becomes heir apparent to the British throne.
While it’s a nice thought that Her Majesty will live on forever, the sad truth is that she will likely pass away in the next few years, causing a major royal shake up.
When that occurs, Prince Charles will step up in her place. The longest serving heir apparent will become our new king.
But that’s not all that will change, as Prince William is already getting himself ready for the day he will fill his father’s shoes as the next heir to the British throne.
The Duke of Cambridge will take on a whole new role when that day arrives, inheriting Charles’ $1.8 billion Duchy of Cornwall estate.
The Court Circular – the royals’ official diary – shows him in special meetings about the estate.
“The Duke of Cambridge this morning attended a Duchy of Cornwall Meeting at 10 Buckingham Gate, London SW1,” read the diary entry from September 12.
This year alone, William has attended three of these meetings, leaving royal fans wondering how big of a responsibility he’s willing to take on.
But the meetings also reveal that William is getting ready to lend his dad a helping hand when he is crowned king in the coming years, as he prepares for his role as Charles’ heir apparent.
