New dad Prince Harry took time off from his busy schedule to accompany his grandmother, Queen Elizabeth, at the third garden party of the year.

Despite gloomy skies, the royals did not let the bad weather sway them, with the head of the monarch introducing a bit of colour into everyone’s day by opting for a light pink ensemble, complete with a matching wide-brimmed hat and an umbrella that matched her outfit perfectly.

The Duke of Sussex also put his best foot forward as he looked dapper in a suit and top hat. Other members of the family also joined the Queen, including her two granddaughters Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie.

Garden parties are hosted each year on the grounds of Buckingham Palace, as well as at the Palace of Holyroodhouse in Scotland. They are held to help recognise the wonderful achievements and to reward those who work in public service.

The joyous occasion is also an extravagant one, with close to 27,000 cups of tea, 20,000 sandwiches and 20,000 slices of cake being served to those in attendance.

Guests are also expected to adhere to a dress code. Men are asked to wear morning or lounge suits, while women wear day dresses paired with fascinators or hats.

The Holyroodhouse party will take place on July 3.
