It’s her first appearance since her very public sacking from he Todayshow, but Sylvia Jeffreys has found a new home on Channel 9.

Jeffreys has begun her new role with Channel 9’s A Current Affair, with her first story airing on February 22 about Australian model Madeline Stewart.

Speculation about Jeffreys’ new role has been around since late December, when it was announced that she wouldn’t be a part of the 2019 Today show lineup.

However, earlier this month, Nine confirmed to news.com.au that Jeffreys would be spread across a “few departments”. We now know this includes A Current Affair.

“Sylvia is working on some projects close to her heart across a few departments, including A Current Affair. We’ll have more to announce soon,” a Nine spokesman confirmed.

News director Darren Wick shot down speculation that Jeffreys was leaving the network, saying that she’s “a huge part of Nine’s plans for 2019 and beyond”.

Wicks elaborated on his comments, saying that “she is contracted with Nine until the end of 2020. Any reports or speculation that she is leaving Nine are incorrect.”

Jeffreys’ additional duties outside of her new ACA gig are yet to be announced, but the host is excited about her new role within Nine.

“I’m thrilled to sink my teeth into a brand new project,” Jeffreys said.

“Opportunity often knocks when you least expect it and I’m ready to dive right in to what’s ahead of me.”
