Melbourne performer Jessie Eilers has received a standing ovation on The Voice Australia as she sang her way through grief.
The young woman dedicated her audition song, Sarah McLachlan’s Angel, to her mother, whom she unexpectedly lost in 2016.

By the end of the performance, all four judges – Delta Goodrem, Guy Sebastian, Kelly Rowland and Boy George – stood up to applaud Eilers’s singing and give her a hug.
“It was quite confronting to know that so many people would know my story and it’s really not an easy thing, talking about your mum’s passing to complete strangers,” Eilers told Woman’s Day.
“But I know my mum would be so supportive of what I’m doing with my singing and she’d have been over the moon that I was able to be on The Voice.”
Eilers attended the Blind Auditions with her father Phil, best friend Bree and Bree’s mother Sonya.
“My dad has been the biggest supporter,” she said. “He’s at all my competitions and he drives me to all my singing and dancing. He’s been there through everything – he’s amazing!”
